Countries With Easily Obtainable Student Visa

An important and unavoidable aspect of studying abroad is applying for a student visa and this is a phase which is usually challenging for many applicants as they do not know how to go about it. It is a heartbreaking experience when an international student successfully gains admission into their dream university abroad but then a complicated visa process threatens tp strip them of the rare opportunity.

Most countries have tough and complicated visa application procedures, but there are still those who make it easy and less time consuming. Booklab24 has decided to assist students in such dilemma by outlining five countries that have relatively easy student visa application procedures.

1. Australia

If you want to study in Australia, you will need a student visa (subclass 500). An applicant will have to present a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from your university, proof of sufficient financial resources and student health cover (OHSC).

An Australian student visa costs 1,600 AUD and takes about four weeks to be processed. Depending on the applicant’s course of study, a student visa can be valid for up to five years. You can also work unlimited hours during the period.

2. Germany

Another country where students can easily get a visa is Germany. The country is one of the most popular destinations for people seeking quality education, affordable tuition fees, scholarships, and job opportunities.

Types of German Student Visa

1. German Student Visa

This is a long-term study visa for foreign students who have been admitted to a German university for a bachelor’s or master’s degree. To apply for this visa, you must have received an acceptance letter from a German university.

2. German Student Applicant Visa

If you have applied for a course in any discipline at a German university but have not yet received your acceptance letter, this visa is the perfect choice for you. This study visa is valid for three months but can be extended up to six months.

3. German Language Course Visa

As an international student who may want to complete a German course in the European nation for between three months and a year, you can apply for the language course visa.

3. Canada

Countries With Easily Obtainable Student Visa

Canada is another popular destination for international students, not only because of its many top-ranked universities, but also because the visa process is relatively easy and welcoming.

International students in Canada must apply for two types of permit:

1. A study permit to study to be allowed to undertake a course at the university. However, this is not a regular entry visa and as such will not allow you to enter the country.

2. A tourist visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA) to allow you to enter the country. Once you apply for a study permit, the Canadian embassy or consulate will automatically issue you an eTA. To apply, you will need to provide evidence of enrolment in a Canadian university, proof of identity, and financial support.

There is a fee of 150 Canadian dollars (109 US dollars) for the study permit, and students from certain countries can apply under the Student Direct Stream, which reduces the processing time from the usual 13 weeks to 20 calendar days if you are applying from outside Canada. .

A Canadian study permit is valid for the duration of your course plus 90 days. You can work unlimited hours on campus and 20 hours per week (unlimited on holidays) off campus. Processing time for Canadian study permits is around 6-8 weeks, while processing time for Student Direct Stream study permits is around 20 days.

4. United States

To study in the United States, you need to apply for a Student Visa (Type F). This visa is valid for up to 5 years. With a US student visa, you can work 20 hours per week during term time and unlimited during holidays. The key requirement for a Type F student visa is that the applicant must be accepted at a SEVP-certified institution and registered with SEVIS. Before your visa interview, you must submit Form I-20, a completed Form DS-160, and all required documents. Don’t worry, it may seem complicated, but once you accept an offer from a university, they will help you register with SEVIS, and after that, you only need to fill out a few forms.

You will need to pay a minimum fee of $510 to apply for your visa. This includes the SEVIS fee of $350 and the application fee of $160. For more information on everything you need for a US student visa, visit the US Department of State website.

5. United Kingdom

The UK’s new immigration policy has made the student visa application process relatively easy, allowing international students to study at some international universities in the UK.

To apply, you must have received a Confirmation of Study Place (CAS). You also need to prove sufficient financial resources and English language skills. There is a visa fee (depending on the region you are applying from) and a health surcharge (depending on the length of your study). We have a detailed guide on UK student visas.

With a UK student visa you are allowed to work 20 hours per week during the term and there are no restrictions during holidays. After completing your studies you can apply for a Graduate Visa, which is a post-study work visa valid for 2 years.
